The salty smell of the high seas!

A friend of mine whom I work with, Colin, has a group of students he helps with design on his spare time. He asked me if I wouldn't mind guest critiquing occasionally. Sounded like a good time to me, so I put together a character for the topic they're working on right now. Pirates! Looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with. Hopefully I'll have some other designs to share later on, from future topics.

Good as usual, Sam. :) Cool that you're gunna be a guest speaker. Who is Colin?
Ah it won't be a speaking gig. Just online! Which makes it a whole lot more convenient. I'd be a bit too busy to do any speaking right now, unfortunately.
Colin is the other designer on the show i'm workin on. He sits behind me and draws a lot. He's also in my links, so you can check out his blog if you're curious!
Sam! It's good to see some of your drawings again! I either forgot you had a blog, or never knew. Well, I'll know from now on. haha
I'm impressed that you could digitally replicate your traditional painting styles! What are you working on now? Or rather, where are you working?
Hi Sam. Thanks for stopping by. You have some lovely stuff here. You should check out sketchcrawl the next time you come by the SF area. I think they do it once evry three months.
great stuff sam...visiting after a while...loved the watercolours from san fransisco as well..
cheers
Mitch - welcome aboard! Right now i'm doing design work on a couple different shows in good ol' Toronto. Shoot me a facebook message or an email if you're interested in the finer points of what I do, and i can elaborate. Thanks for stopping by! :)
Jackson - Glad you're feelin this stuff. If i'm ever in the bay area during a sketchcrawl I'll do my best to make it out. Sounds like they're pretty great.
San - I will soon stop replying to you, if you don't start up a blog of your own! Haha. Seriously though, hope things are well back home! Keep in touch.
this is soo great as usual! i always love checking out your stuff!! keep on posting...
Hey Sam. This is pretty sweet. Really appealing. I love those hands!
nice stuff man your watercolours are beautiful!
Some wonderful things going on here. I like all the little "touches" you added to enhance the character - - the henna tattoos, the beaton down jacket with a very unique/cool color scheme going on. Now is he about to drop to the blow, fairly amazing that he can be drunk as a skunk and still stand like that with a wooden leg, i'm jealous.
Hi Sam, why don't you update anymore?
Dear Chris,
happy now?
