Deidra
Robin and I finished putting this together tonight. I think i'll let the art speak for itself.
As far as creating it, i had a lot of fun... and i feel like i learned quite a bit about story telling in a medium other than storyboards, which is nice. I also learned quite a bit from Robin and Casper, they both did some excellent work. Casper designed the ship and drew the panel where it's shown clearly... and then Robin and I designed the character together and drew the rest of the panels.. then I was lucky enough to get to paint over Robin's ink to finish it off. If I have the opportunity to approach another project similar to this one, I'd definitely do a few things differently, but for a first attempt i'm satisfied with this result!
Anyhow, have a look.

I'm not sure if we'll have time to revisit Deidra, but there's a whole lot of story that we came up with which isn't even hinted at here. Having a rich history and some ideas for her future made her little trip through the snow a whole lot more fun to draw. So maybe we'll come back to it at some point - who knows. At the very least, i'm pretty confident that i'll be doing more sequential art in a similar format at some point, as soon as I have the time. I had way too much fun doing this.
Thanks again to Robin and Casper for getting this done with me. I always enjoy working with the two of you.

Wow - it looks amazing! I had no idea you guys were going to finish it last night. You did good. :)

well... I hope u'll continue on with it!
Oh!! That character is so cute!! And I really like that watercolor treatment as well :)
awesome mood created by watercolour, composition and designs :) awaiting for more to come.
very nice work, im hoping you all chose to finish the story, and then get it published.
Ah, thanks so much guys and girls!
Robin and I had initially intended this to be just these two pages - kind of a tease of what might've been, if we had more free time... hah. But after a week of having people ask me when the rest is going to be done over and over, i'll admit, i'm tempted to go back and try to work up the rest of the story.
Either way, both of us are really busy with our respective films. I haven't had time to draw for myself for more than 15 or 20 minutes all week... so if the rest of this story does see the light of day, it probably won't be for a few months. And Deidra might subconsiously be drawn in a fashion that looks much more robotic. heh. But i really would enjoy following through with the narrative that barely begins here... so who knows.
Again, thanks for the comments. Reading them really makes me want to keep this going.
like I said to Robin... very nice work!! ;-)
I liiike. It's weird years ago I did a painting of a ship wreck stuck atop a mountain in the middle of a desert... brought back the memories
These two comic pages are beautiful. I love the color treatment, the design. The whole thing. Very pretty. So much came before this, and so much after, regardless of whether or not you "document it" I happen to really like the implied story, it so epic! so deep.
but can you draw sponge bob?
Real nice work with the washes. Beautiful.
